For those that have visited Radio Free Silver in the past, it is readily apparent that the new RFS! is quite a departure from the original site.  We think you’ll enjoy the new features and functions and most of all we hope you will find our new program – Pens & Needles -to be a provocative and useful addition to your media menu.

Pens & Needles will be a weekly one hour program wherein I will read the current analysis and commentary of some of our most accomplished authors, activists, academics and artists.  As communications director for International Relations Center, I became well acquainted with a number of them and came to admire and respect their work.  In a media environment where everyone that seeks it can get basic information on current events with a progressive viewpoint, I found that few offer audio of consistent quality and none offer verbatim readings of the carefully crafted analyses of these experts in a broad range of fields.  I hope you will find it informative, provocative and useful.

Radio Free Silver’s previous program content is also available here and I’ve tried to adhere closely in the text to how it was originally presented.  We have, however, remastered the original programs using current technologies.  Also included is material from our archives that never appeared on the previous incarnation of the website such as the original KNFT AM programs and the first round of video interviews immediately following RFS’ demise on KNFT.  While we are happy to move into our next phase with Pens & Needles we also feel that these early programs provide a detailed snapshot of the state of political and social development here in Grant County during the spring and summer of 2004 leading up to one of the most important – and tragic – elections of our era.

Forward!  and Regards,

Kyle Johnson
